The Big Day

What is W2 Recipes?

W2 is just W Squared, my initials. 💡

Before the website, I was posting all of my recipes on Instagram. Each recipe took about 2 to 4 hours to curate. Thinking about the longer term, I figured it would be best to streamline all the recipes into my own personal website/blog. By doing it this way, I can eventually monetize my content through Google AdSense, Amazon Affiliate, and more down the road.

While I have built a small audience of 12,400+ followers on Instagram, numerous people have wanted to give my recipes a try. I feel grateful to each and every one of you for taking the time to watch and interact with my content. As of right now, the goal for me is to turn this into a full-time, permanent position for myself and future family. There are so many great opportunities that come with becoming a content creator and I can only work towards building something special.

All of my video posted recipes are carefully developed into images to make them as easy as possible to follow. For each recipe there is something called a “Master List”. In the restaurant industry, this is usually a prep list that combines what’s left on everybody’s prep list. You can print or screenshot the Master List to use for grocery shopping. This list helps avoid missing out on ingredients! In the future I may switch over to a dynamic recipe card which gives the reader an option to change metrics, include a checklist, products used in the recipe, instructions to follow, and more!

Throughout all my recipes, there are high quality photos taken and edited by myself to help give visual aid. For me, I learn the best through condensed reading material and great quality visuals. That is what I strive for to set myself apart. All photos are taken myself or with the help of my girlfriend. Filming while cooking is difficult and I have tremendous respect for all the food content creators out there working alone on their own material. It takes a lot of hours of work just to cook and film. Then after that you have the editing part which includes timeline sequencing, voiceovers, subtitles, sound fx, creating captions, rendering, uploading, and more! No one understands the amount of work it takes unless you have done it yourself.

About 100 hours over a 7-day span were spent working on this website: everything on the frontend, which is what visitors see, and the backend, such as additional custom code, SEO (search engine optimization), metadata, and URLS just to name a few. Even though I feel good about what I have published so far, I believe there is still a lot more to add onto the website, so I expect many more hours of work to be done.

Another great reason for me to have this website is that I can document everything and be proud of something I have built from the ground up. I get to look back in the future to see how far I have come.

Cheers to the beginning of a very long journey!
