Sea Urchin
This is a super quick and easy 10-minute recipe, but before getting to the stage of curating this Uni Toast, check out How to Process Sea Urchin first! The Sea Urchin Roe (Uni) should be eaten almost right away for maximum freshness. It can be kept short-term in an airtight container at 32 to 39°F (0 to 4°C) refrigerated for up to 2 days, but keep in mind that quality may start to decline after a day or two. Avoid freezing, as ice crystals will form, changing the texture and quality upon thawing. If there is any spoilage, such as an off smell or changes in color and texture, discard it. There are many different types of Sea Urchin. The ones used in this recipe are fresh Green Sea Urchin and Shoyu Ikura locally sold by Fresh Ideas Start Here (FISH).
This toast is a crowd-pleaser and can be easily made with a few specialty ingredients. The creamy, briny taste gives you divine pleasure in every bite.
